Iran Peace Negotiations Stall

US President Donald Trump plans to meet with top national security officials today to discuss a new Iranian proposal that would reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Peace talks stalled over the weekend after Trump defended his decision to cancel his envoys' trip to Pakistan, saying Iranian authorities "can call" if they want, while reiterating the war could "come to an end very soon." Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is in Russia ahead of a meeting with President Vladimir Putin, following meetings in Pakistan and Oman.

Oil Markets React

Goldman Sachs now expects oil prices to stay higher for longer, raising its Brent forecast to $90 a barrel by late 2026 from $80 previously, as disruptions in the Persian Gulf prove more persistent than earlier assumed. US gas prices edged up another penny to $4.11 for a gallon of regular, according to the latest reading from AAA, marking the fifth straight day of price increases.
