Iran Submits 14-Point Proposal to End War; Trump Signals Openness to Deal

Iran submitted a detailed 14-point response to U.S. proposals aimed at ending the war, with Tehran proposing to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and lift the blockade. President Trump said he is reviewing the Iranian proposal while maintaining pressure on the strategic waterway.

New Iranian Peace Proposal

Iran has submitted a 14-point response to a U.S. proposal on ending the war through a Pakistani intermediary, with the Iranian reply addressing a nine-point U.S. proposal and focusing on ending the war.

Key Provisions

Iran's proposal includes provisions such as guarantees against military action, withdrawal of U.S. forces from areas surrounding Iran, lifting the naval blockade and sanctions, unfreezing Iranian assets, payment of compensation and ending hostilities across multiple fronts, including Lebanon.

Trump's Response

Trump said on Saturday he had been told about the concept of a deal with Iran but was waiting for the exact wording, replying when asked about Iran's proposal: They told me about the concept of the deal. They're going to give me the exact wording now.

Economic Pressure

Trump is under domestic pressure to break Iran's hold on the strait, which has choked off 20% of the world's oil and gas supplies and pushed up U.S. gasoline prices. The national average gas price rose to a wartime high of $4.39 on Friday, up more than 30 cents from a week ago.
